Master Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Job Description :

Overview: Our client, a well-established heavy equipment dealer, is now seeking master mechanics to work in shop and field service positions across multiple locations in California. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of working with a variety of construction, agricultural, material handling and power generation equipment. You will be working on skid steers, loaders, excavators, tractors, mowers, tillers, wheel loaders and other heavy equipment in the rental fleet. Applicants should have experience working with major brands in the industry and those with CAT experience or manufacturer’s training are especially encouraged to apply. Regular duties will consist of diagnostic work, engine rebuilds, maintenance and repairs. As a senior mechanic, you will also be involved in mentoring more junior staff.

Work ethic, mechanical aptitude and interpersonal skills are key as this position requires interactions with a variety of staff and customers. Employees who have a proven track record working with and/or obtaining training on major earthmoving, agricultural and power generation equipment are given priority for field roles which offer a great deal of autonomy. Work environment:

·         Field and shop roles available

·         Day shift

·         Approximately 10-20 hours of overtime every two weeks

·         Will have to mentor and train more junior staff



·         $35.00/h-$40.00/h depending on relevant experience


·         Relocation assistance provided on a case by case basis

Required Qualifications :


·         Master level mechanic certification

·         5-10 years of experience working on heavy equipment in construction, agricultural, power generation and  earthmoving sectors

·         Experience working with a number of major brands

·         CAT experience strongly preferred

·         Manufacturer’s training preferred

·         Must be familiar with newest diagnostic tools and techniques

·         Computer literacy

·         Ability to document work and produce service reports

·         Must have own tools, valid driver’s license
